COSSA has learned that Congressional Republicans are working at the request of the Trump Administration to pass another Continuing Resolution (CR) that would punt final action on fiscal year (FY) 2017 into next year, after the new Congress and Administration are sworn in. The current CR expires on December 9. Should Congress comply, rather than finishing the appropriations process for FY 2017 before the 114th Congress adjourns at the end of the calendar year, funding for the entire federal scientific research enterprise could be put in jeopardy, including programs of the utmost importance to social and behavioral science. COSSA has written to House and Senate leadership about the importance of these funding increases. Use the tool below to to write to your Members of Congress about the importance of finishing their work and passing appropriations bills for this year. Congressional leaders are likely to decide on their path forward in the coming weeks.
